Search documentation

2 min read•Updated Jul 21, 2026

Overview

Use the search bar in the Docs view to find answers across the generated documentation for a single GitHub repository. Results come from pages Moxie Docs creates from your code and keeps current, so you can trust what you see. Search is scoped to the active repository and supports quick filtering so you can narrow to the most relevant page. Once you find what you need, open the page to read the full answer.

When to use it

  • You want to quickly answer a question about how the repository works.
  • You need to locate a specific concept, API, or component in the generated docs.
  • You prefer searching one repository’s docs instead of browsing page by page.
  • You want current docs that stay in sync with the codebase.

How to use it

  1. Open Dashboard → Docs for the repository you want to search.
  2. Click the search bar at the top of the Docs view.
  3. Type a few keywords or a question about what you’re looking for (for example, a feature name or concept).
  4. Press Enter to run the search scoped to this repository.
  5. Scan the results list. Each result links to a generated doc page.
  6. Apply filters (if shown) to narrow results to the most relevant pages.
  7. Select a result to open the page and read the full details.
  8. Use your browser’s Back button to return to results, or refine your search terms in the search bar to try again.

Options and settings

  • Search bar (Docs view): Runs hybrid search across generated pages for the active repository.
  • Filters: Narrow results by available facets shown with your query (options vary by repository’s generated docs).

Tips

  • Start broad, then add specific terms to quickly improve result relevance.
  • If you don’t see what you expect, confirm you’re in the correct repository before searching.
  • Open multiple results in new tabs to compare pages without losing your place.
