Fix missing or outdated docs in the dashboard
Overview
Use this guide if documentation collections look empty, out of date, or a collection you expect isn’t showing on Docs Home. You’ll confirm that Moxie can index your repo, that your GitHub access is connected, and that the right detectors and collections are visible to you. Most issues resolve by refreshing indexing or adjusting your visibility settings.
Before you start
- You can sign in to your Moxie workspace and open the dashboard.
- You have access to the connected GitHub repository in your GitHub account.
- You can view Docs Home. If you manage settings, you may also need workspace admin access.
A collection you expect is missing from Docs Home
You notice that a documentation collection you use often isn’t listed in the collections grid on Docs Home.
- Check your personal view settings.
- Go to Dashboard → Docs home.
- Click Filters or the visibility control (eye icon) and review Hidden and Favorites.
- If the collection is hidden, Unhide it. If you want quick access later, Add to favorites.
- Search for the collection by name.
- Use the Search bar on Docs Home and type the collection name.
- If it appears in results, open it and then Pin it from the collection card.
- Refresh the page and collections.
- Click Refresh on Docs Home to reload cards and counts.
- Confirm the right repository is connected.
- From Docs Home, check the repo name shown on collection cards. If you work across multiple repos, switch to the correct workspace or repo context.
Docs look stale or show old content
You’re seeing outdated articles, counts that don’t match the repo, or Friday Recap references that don’t include recent changes.
- Check last indexed time.
- Open Dashboard → Docs home and locate the affected collection card.
- Look for the Last updated time on the card.
- Request a re-index.
- On the collection card, click More (⋯) and choose Re-index or Refresh content.
- Wait a few minutes, then Refresh the page and reopen the collection.
- Verify the repo has recent changes.
- Open the repository in GitHub and confirm that docs were updated on the branch Moxie tracks (commonly the default branch).
- Confirm your GitHub access is active.
- Make sure you can open the repo in GitHub while signed in with the same account linked to Moxie.
- If prompted in Moxie, Reconnect GitHub and allow access to the repository.
You can’t find any docs at all
Docs Home appears empty, or you see only onboarding tiles without real content.
- Confirm the repository was connected to Moxie Docs.
- On Docs home, look for onboarding context that names the target repo. If none is shown, ask a workspace admin to connect the correct repo.
- Check your permissions.
- Ensure your GitHub account has at least read access to the repo.
- In Moxie, verify you’re in the correct workspace and team.
- Reload and try a fresh session.
- Click Refresh, or sign out and back in to Moxie, then revisit Dashboard → Docs home.
Q&A answers feel off or ignore recent changes
The knowledgebase seems to answer from older docs, or code-aware answers don’t reflect the latest updates.
- Open the related collection and review recent items.
- From Docs home, click the collection and check the most recent documents listed.
- Trigger a content refresh.
- Use More → Re-index on the collection, then wait and try your question again.
- Provide feedback on the answer.
- In the Q&A panel, click Thumbs down and add a short note. This helps improve future grounding and indexing.
Friday Recap or changelog entries are missing
Your weekly Friday Recap doesn’t mention recent doc or code changes you expect to see.
- Verify the timeframe.
- Open Friday Recaps and check the date range shown on the recap card.
- Confirm indexing completed before the recap.
- On Docs home, check Last updated for the affected collections. If it updated after the recap was generated, the changes won’t appear until next time.
- Run a manual refresh for next week.
- Use Re-index on key collections so they’re up to date before the next Friday Recap.
Detectors hide content you expect to see
If detectors were tuned by your team, some content might be muted or de-emphasized, which can make collections feel incomplete.
- Review detector visibility.
- On the collection card, click More and look for Detector settings or a link to Tuning if available to you.
- Unmute or Adjust noisy rules.
- If a detector is muting relevant items, unmute it or lower the threshold so related docs appear again.
- Reset to defaults if unsure.
- Use Restore defaults to revert to the standard visibility for that collection.
Repo access is limited or changed in GitHub
If your GitHub organization changed permissions, Moxie might lose access and stop updating docs.
- Reconnect the GitHub link in Moxie.
- When prompted in the dashboard, click Reconnect GitHub and follow the steps to approve access to the repository.
- Confirm repository access in GitHub.
- In GitHub, verify you still have access to the repo and the GitHub App or OAuth connection includes it.
- Ask an admin to re-authorize.
- If you can’t approve access, contact a workspace admin to re-install or grant the repo to the Moxie GitHub connection.
Still need help
- Recheck that you’re in the correct workspace and that the expected repository is connected.
- Confirm your GitHub account has at least read access to the repo and is linked in Moxie.
- If problems persist, contact your workspace admin or owner to review repository connections, detector settings, and collection visibility.
- If your admin can’t resolve it, share screenshots of Docs home (collection cards and Last updated) and the affected collection with Moxie support for faster troubleshooting.
