Share changelog to Slack
Overview
This guide shows you how to take a weekly changelog from Moxie Docs and share it in Slack. You will filter merged pull requests, apply the recommended preset for Slack, and copy or export the formatted summary so your team can read it easily in a channel or DM.
Before you start
- You have a repository connected to Moxie Docs and merged pull requests in the period you want to share.
- You can sign in to Slack and have permission to post in the target channel.
- You know which audience or category your team expects (for example, Engineering, Product, or All Hands).
Connect
There is no direct Slack app to install. You will copy the Slack‑ready changelog from Moxie Docs and paste it into Slack.
- Open Moxie Docs and go to Dashboard.
- Select your repository.
- Click Changelog in the left panel to open the changelog for that repository.
Configure
Set up the changelog exactly how you want it to appear in Slack before you copy or export.
- Pick a date range: Use the date controls to select the past week (for example, Monday–Sunday).
- Filter entries: Use Audience and Category filters to tailor the list to your readers.
- Review AI summaries: Edit any entry if needed, or Hide items you do not want to include.
- Choose a preset: Open Copy/Export and select the Slack‑friendly preset (recommended for channels). This preset formats headings, bullets, and links for Slack.
- Include sections: In the preset options, choose whether to group by category, include PR authors, or show links to PRs.
Verify it works
- Preview the changelog in Moxie Docs after filters and edits; confirm only the entries you want are visible.
- Click Copy (with the Slack preset selected) and Paste into a Slack draft message. Confirm headings, bullets, and links render cleanly.
- Post to a private channel first to confirm readability on mobile and desktop.
- Check links from Slack back to PRs or docs open correctly for teammates who have access.
Disconnect or change access
There is no persistent Slack connection to manage. To change what you share next time:
- Adjust filters (Audience, Category, date range) in Changelog before copying.
- Edit or Hide entries you do not want to include.
- Switch presets in Copy/Export if your team prefers a different format.
- If you posted to the wrong Slack channel, Delete the Slack message and repost after updating the changelog formatting in Moxie Docs.
